Pantelidis Vasilis
LesvosVassilis Pantelidis was born in 1931 in Skoutaros, Lesvos. He was an instrumentalist with theoretical knowledge of music. His father taught him to play the santouri and then his grandfather taught him the clarinet, his preeminent instrument of choice. His professional involvement in music began with his participation in his father’s band, George, in 1948, where he now played the clarinet. In the mid-1940s, he played the santouri in collaboration with his brother Christos on the violin at parties and entertainments. Since 1948 he has been playing the clarinet at festivals, weddings, engagements, entertainments and parties in cafes or at home. The old local customs, the majority of which are strongly influenced by the opposite coast of Asia Minor, he had been taught by his grandfather and father. He participated, playing the clarinet, in a movie, which was shot in Molyvos and in which the actress Eleni Anousaki starred.
